The New Turkish Lira (Yeni Türk Lirasi, YTL), with six less zeros than the old Turkish Lira (TL) currency, was introduced on January 1, 2005. (On January 1, 2009, new notes were introduced to replace the YTL notes. More...)

Though the examples below are not actual size, you can see what New Turkish Lira (YTL) bills/notes looked like. (Örnektir Geçmez means "Specimen—Not Negotiable." This is not printed on the real bills/notes, of course.)

Do not accept these YTL notes! Accept only the 2009-series Turkish Lira notes!
