During the past two decades the Bodrum peninsula (map) has
experienced a construction boom as previously
barren hillsides have been filled with
villas, cottages and rental apartments/flats.
Some are owned by Turkish families
who use them for a few weeks every
summer. Most other villas are owned
by foreign part-time residents. Many
are citizens of the United Kingdom
and other European countries.
They may be in the town of Bodrum proper, or in any of the towns around
the Bodrum peninsula,
including Akbük, Bitez, Çiftlik,
Dereköy, Gümüşlük,
Gürece, Karakaya, Kona, Konacik,Torba,
Yahşi, Yaliçiftlik and Yalikavak.

When they're not enjoying their villas
themselves, they like to recoup some
of the ownership expense by letting/renting
their villas, cottages and apartments/flats
to short-term visitors.
Self-catering villa rental is among
the best ways to spend part of your
holiday. Not only are you independent
of hotel rules and close quarters,
you have more room and more
freedom,
often for less money!
When you compare vacation
villa rental prices to hotel rooms, the villas are
almost always less expensive for what
you get, and you can save additional
amounts by preparing your own
meals,
not to mention drinks, which suffer
extraordinary price markups in hotels.
Here's another place to check.
