Kayadam Cave Hotel is
a fine small rock-hewn inn in the Esbelli neighborhood
of Ürgüp.
With only seven rooms,
it's like having a troglodyte
villa that you share with
friends—except that this troglodyte
villa, besides having cool cave rooms,
has pretty terraces that enjoy abundant
sunshine. So take your pick:
cool shade, or warm sun.
Each of the Kayadam's guest
rooms has
a window of decent
size, with an
insect
screen (not always found in
Turkey); either twin beds or a double
bed. All
rooms have
showers, and two have bathtubs.
Besides lots of sun outside, and fine
views of the hilly Cappadocian countryside,
the rock into which the Kayadam is
carved has colorful red and
orange banding (from the oxidization of iron
in the volcanic tufa).
The texture of the rock is one of
the joys of staying in a Cappadocian cave room: the walls of your room are
a natural work of art in
themselves.
Small, friendly, very comfy, and moderately
priced, the Kayadam is a good choice
if you're looking for a cave hotel
in Cappadocia.
The manager of Kayadam, Ms
Kismet Çiner,
also offers the neighboring Villa
Bacchus rock-hewn
house for families and small groups.
The villa can accommodate up to eight
guests in three guest rooms, and affords
more privacy for groups who know one
another well.
When you contact the Kayadam for more
information or reservations, mention
TTP. Here's why.
