I've written a walking
tour of
Jewish heritage sites in Turkey, concentrating
on Istanbul,
with some information on Bursa, Izmir and Sardis,
and brief mentions of other cities
with histories of Jewish life such
as Çanakkale, Manisa and Bergama.
The tour takes you step-by-step through
the Jewish (or formerly Jewish) neighborhoods
of Istanbul, Bursa and Izmir, describing
the buildings and their importance
to the Jewish communities in each city.
Non-Jewish sites of importance in the
same neighborhoods are also mentioned
so you can see everything on one walk
and make the most of your travel time.
There is no charge to download the
.pdf file, which you may print and
take with you on your travels, but
I would request a donation
of US$5 (or
equivalent in another currency) if
you find the document useful. (Of course,
a larger donation is appreciated if
you feel it to be appropriate.) You
may offer your donation via PayPal
or credit card by clicking this "Donate"
button:
If yu prefer, you may send
a check in US dollars
or UK pounds sterling (made out
to "T Brosnahan") to the mailing
address at the bottom of this
page.
THANK
YOU! Your
gift will go toward expanding and updating
information on TurkeyTravelPlanner.com.
