history channel

My husband and I saw a DVD from the history channel titled, I believe, The Lost Christians. It followed Paul's travels, and digitally reconstructed Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis, and also explored the cave dwellings of Cappadocia. It was very interesting since we were in Ephesus in February and ...

airline

Another airline in Turkey is Onus Air; may be a bit more expensive. The seats are smaller than on an American airline, and they are way too small now, so consider that when you plan. I found it fine for a short flight, but my husband was uncomfortable. http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/trans/Air/on...

hotel in Istanbul

http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/WhereToGo/Istanbul/IstanbulHotels/IstSpecialHotels/index.html This is the site where I found our hotel. It is listed under "Special Hotels". We were very happy with it, and it was not expensive, though I can't remember the exact price. Once there, I saw the Blue Ho...

turkey in december

This website is the best place to start, and you're already there! You could easily fill a week in Istanbul. Find a good hotel (Tom's suggestions are great - I recommend staying in the old part, Sultanahmet) and go from there. The hotels have suggestions, as does this site. The tour agencies, such a...

Our guide was booked by Turista, but I can't remember his name. I'm sending this link to my husband and daughter, my traveling companions, to see if they can.

Ciye Restaurant

Kadikoy. I will send the address if I can find it. Our hotel (Sari Konak in Sultanahmet, also very good and helpful) found the address for us and wrote it down for the taxi driver.

McDonalds

Actually, our daughter had a meal at the McDonalds because she has been in the Republic of Georgia for two years and longed for a burger fix, so she had a McTurko, and it was good! As for cheap food in Istanbul, it is hard to find. Get away from the touristy places and you can, though. The tiny stre...

Ciye Restaurant

We took the ferry from Eminolu to the Asian side of Istanbul one night last week to try out Ciye Restaurant, which we had read about in Saveur magazine. It was an adventure getting there (the taxi driver got us within two blocks of the place and then got a passerby to escort us to the restaurant!), ...
