Re: Help with planning please

Hi there, a good alternative is the Datca peninsula, sort of between Bodrum and Marmaris. I always thought Marmaris had more Germans and Dutch ;-) But it has a spectacular coast line! The best coastline is sort of between Marmaris and Fethiye as there are lots of bays. Dalyan is a very nice place to...

Re: Counterclockwise or Clockwise and Ramazan

And it is very annoying when all restaurants are closed, so I would avoid Konya during Ramadan, the restaurants open for such a short time after sunset, and then it is crowded. For the rest, it does not really matter, I think I would choose the coast last of my trip, towards October Cappedocia can g...

Re: Bostanci, Kadakoi

Hi there, the university is not really in Bostanci, but very close to Camlica, say between Kozyatagi and Camlica. Kozyatagi is a very busy area, with malls (Carrefour, Paladium, Optimum and a little further Ikea and Meydan), cinema's, close to Bostanci, Bagdat Street and Sea of Marmara. I really lik...

Re: I have food allergies

That's it not to worry at all. If you go to a lokanta you can point out what you like, all that food is cooked in olive oil. They might use sunflower oil for frying chips. Sunflower seeds are not used in normal bread that you get in restaurants or hotels. That is usually white. In most restaurants s...

Re: Any ideas on where to stay near Dalaman?

Dalyan is lovely I absolutely agree, it is very close to Dalaman. You do not mention though how far your transfer could be as Dalyan for a week is especially sea, river, lake. If you want more you could consider a maximum 1 hour transfer to Fethiye area. There are many more options in that area, loa...

Re: Ankara Lamb Stew (Tava)

Hi Tavsan,
did you ever find the recipe? As I am cooking during summer I am always interested for new things to prepare. I found this one on the web: http://www.recipehound.com/Recipes/3089.html
I am surely going to try it soon, especially the final part with the egg sounds delicious. Cheers!

Re: Most beautiful beach

İf you think Ölüdeniz gets too crowded in summer then it is a very short ride towards Faralya and go to Kıdrak beach, a lovely beach between Ölüdeniz and Lykia World, quiet between the trees but no restaurant so bring your lunch and drinks!

Re: fruit paste with nuts at spice bazaar

Hi! I know for sure the white one is a variety of nougat, it is very thick and chewy, and you are right it is addictive! You can buy with pistachio's, walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds etc. The browner ones, are blocks with a thickened grape juice as a base. They come also in the sausage shape and balls (...

Re: Trekking the Lycian Way in October

Hi Amnon, I am a bit late to respond here, did you do the Lycian Way already? The Lycian Way is wonderful track, though I have no chance to walk myself, I have talked to many people who did. Personally I think April - May is a better time, because it is so lush and green with so many wild flowers. O...

Re: Is aug summer in Turkey too hot and humid?

This year is a very good year, July was perfect, never too hot. Temperatures around 35˙C are wonderful. No heat waves so far. It depends on what is your preference, for swimming in the sea September and October are perfect. The seawater in the Mediterranean near Fethiye/Antalya is now 28˙C. For more...
