prices

Hello Karim, My recollection is that it was about twice or three times the price of the good kebapcilar in town, but not prohibitive. You can ask for a menu and make your decision. I'd do it if at all possible and know that the view itself is worth the price of a meal. What a glorious terrace! It's ...

Mardin and Environs

I spent six days in Mardin and ffer some observations (restaurant recommendations are in the appropriate thread). First, it's hard to choose between spending all one's time in Mardin or dividing between Mardin and Midyat. The advantage to Midyat, and it is considerable, is that you save about 75 min...

Best restaurant in Mardin plus another recommendation

Has to be the Cercis Murat Konagi. I and others have raved about Ciya in Kadikoy, Istanbul, where the chef/owner is reviving the old Anatolian cuisine. My guess is itnever stopped being produced here. This is the type of restaurant that would be a find if the food were half so good. There's not a lo...

ATM fixed

I arrived Monday to find the VakifBank (only one in town I could use) ATM off, the IsBank ATM non existent (a plywood facing) and DenizBank, so I was told, out of money. When I was in Urgup on Wednesday, I stopped by VB and they knew about it; said it was "buyuk problem" but one not affecting the Ur...

I ate there three nights straight, and on future trips I would consider staying in Kadikoy just so I could be closer. The food is spectacular, thr prices more than reasonable, and the service first rate.

I stayed at the Efehan. It's nothing special, but I'd certainly stay there again. Bursa is a BEAUTIFUL city, by the way.

Hotel Peninsula, Sultanahmet

I recently spent five days at the Peninsula. I'd written to the Hanedan, which was booked, and they told me it's their "other hotel." I'ds stayed at the Side Pension in December, but this time around I wanted air-conditioning, just in case, and I suspect the room I had at Side was really a double, n...

I was afraid of that. Thanks for replying, Sinan.

Midyat Tours?

I'm wondering if there are tours that run from Midyat or Mardin to the monasteries in the area, especially Tur Abdin.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.
