Re: Turkish Speed Traps

Just remember that in Turkey you don't always get a ticket. The first time you find-out that you been done for speeding or jumping a traffic-light is often when you go to pay your vehicle tax in January or July and find that you've also got a fine to pay.

Re: Rental pickup in Antalya

There are car rental facilities at and close to the Otogar but it depends on your arrival time there as to whether or not they'll be open when you get there.

Re: Gemiler Island

There isn't a water taxi as such, but there's always someone at Gemiler Beach who'll get you over to the island. The Island ranger spends most of the summer over there and you can usually get a guided tour from him for a small fee.

Re: Fethiye area itinerary help, please!

That's the sort of plan I'd recommend too.

Avoid going to Kayakoy on a Tuesday afternoon though as that's when all the tour groups turn-up after doing Fethiye market in the morning.

Re: Advice needed on moving to Turkey

Yes you can still renew a 90 visa every 90 days. However, it clearly states on it that you're not allowed to work and I can assure you that WHEN you're caught, not IF, you'll be swiftly dealt with. You must have a work permit BEFORE starting a job and anyone who tells you anything different is a fool.

Re: Opening a savings account in Istanbul

You can't open an account online or by phone.

Your best option is to decide which branch you want to open the account at and then visit it. Some banks will obtain a Tax Number on your behalf.

Re: Credit Cards - "Chip and PIN" Difficulties in Turkey?

Turkey were one of the pioneers in "Chip and Pin" and the second in the world to introduce it across the entire country. We lived in Turkey for 6 years and didn't have any problems with it worth mentioning. One of the biggest problems that I have encountered when using "Chip and Pin" throughout Euro...
