hotel choices in istanbul

Post by pin » Tue Jun 09, 2009 12:55 pm

Hi

Wonder if you guys can help me (but please be gentle, am a total newbie on this site).

Am going to be in Istanbul for a few days in July.

I've narrowed my hotel search down to two choices:

http://www.hoteltuliphouse.com/

or

http://www.hotelniles.com/

They both fit my budget for around 200 euros for two people for a four night stay.

Has anyone stayed at either of these two properties on this board that could recommend one over the other. Or can anyone else suggest other options at around the same price.

Many thanks!

First of all I must say that I haven't stayed at either!

Tulip House is closer to the mosques and tourist areas. I actually think this is a disadvantage as the roads around the Blue Mosque have become increasingly touristy, the local restaurants aren't great and it's a fair walk to the tram.

The Niles is just outside of the main tourist area and closer to the Grand Bazar. It's run by Deniz Duyar and I have stayed at the Dersaadet, his other hotel, and it is a quality place - I understand that the Niles is run to the same exacting standards. You will however be a tram stop away from the bustle. I prefer this, but you might like to stay in a more traditional tourist area.
