My partner and I are traveling to Turkey for the first time at the end of April for a 10 day holiday. We’re in our 30s and are keen to experience a mixture of relaxation, nature, history and city sights. I’m looking for some itinerary help - specifically in deciding between spending most of our time exploring the turquoise coast or driving up the west coast to Istanbul.
The arrival and departure parts of our itinerary that are locked in.
We fly into Dalaman and will hire a car. Then drive down the coast to Turnin Hill Lodge near Faralya for 3 nights. (we will have a car during our time here, so can do a little exploration of the area)
We will end our trip with 3-4 days in Istanbul and will fly home from there.
The question is about the middle of the holiday.
Option 1 is to drive from Faralya to Istanbul over 4 days - taking in sights such as
Ephesus, Izmir, bergama, Assos,Troy, Çanakkale, Bursa (this would mean 3 days in Istanbul)
Option 2 is to drive from Faralya to Antayla, exploring the Turquoise Coast, then fly to Istanbul. (this would mean 4 days in Istanbul)
Any advice on these itinerary options or on places that we should visit would be much appreciated.
