You should expect light snow (1/8th inch perhaps) and temps overnight in mid 20's with daytime highs in upper 30's with an occasional high of 40.
Safe travels...

There is a good change you will. I was there for New Years weekend when it snowed 3 days while last year it did not snow at all...

I know that this poster has already most likely come and gone to turkey but for others here is an update..

''Freezing cold to keep its grip on Turkey through Wednesday''

Most of Turkey will see temperatures remaining low until Wednesday as a new cold front moves into the country from the Black Sea region, bringing with it heavy snow for many areas, according to the State Meteorology Bureau.

"Heavy snowstorms are expected to continue in northern, central and eastern regions of the country. In addition to heavy snowfall, these regions will also experience strong winds," a State Meteorology Bureau statement issued yesterday read.

Watching the news last night and they were reporting from Istanbul and Ankara it is very cold...blizzarding winds, dense fog and heavy snowstorms..so keep warm...even highway travel is not recommended at the moment and many schools in certain areas are closed to day and tommorrow..

check out the video reports on the BBC news..

Hi Stingray,I guess this year shows again how Istanbul weather can be so unpredictable. I was there until the 11th of February for 2 months. I have only seen a little bit of snow this winter. Many days were very nice sunny, not too cold.
The real heavy snow fell a weekend after we had left and disrupted the city.
And I know this is not Istanbul, but have a look at this bizarre picture from a wolf frozen over while walking (East Turkey):

This just sounds so exciting. I can't wait to visit myself. I could do without snow, but this is one place in the world that I have always wanted to travel! The history is so rich compared to where I am from, and I can't wait to check out all of the local plants and wildlife!!!
I am really excited about visiting Turkey in February with my husband. I have had it on my calendar for a long time!
