The Cuisine in Winter

Post by kanewai » Fri Jan 09, 2009 12:59 pm

I might make it back to Istanbul this coming November / December, and hopefully with friends in tow. I've only been in the Spring and Fall, and I remember the cuisine being full of fresh vegetables. Will we be able to get all those fresh salads in the winter? I'm assuming the lentils and pide and sheep will be available all year round; not so sure about veggies and seafood. I need to know what to tempt my friends with!

Hello,
I just returned from Istanbul 2 days ago and had fresh salads everyday. Same as summertime.
In winter the Turkish supply of veggies is supported by southern regions where the climate is warmer. Also, they may import from other regions nearby plus from Cyprus.
Enjoy them galore!

Tempt them with fish! Winter is the fish season in Turkey.
