March 2010

Post by Zagor » Tue Dec 08, 2009 1:19 pm

I will go to Istanbul on 9th March 2010. I was already there three times but always in autumn and had always wonderful weather there. Now I want to move outside Istanbul and would like to know the weather I can expect. The exact destination is still not defined. Depends on the weather. I would prefer Ankara, Nevsehir, Göreme but Sile, Agva or Ayvalik may be also destinations.
Thank you in advance.

Kédves Zagor, :D
You may cancel Ankara. It is not important and touristic. March will be cold, icy ,snowy. No good time for Ankara. But on the other hand all the other places have their aroma although in March. You can visit also Rodosto(Tekirdag) near Istanbul and Kütahya of Kossuth

I don't agree with cancelling Ankara. It's nowhere near as interesting as Istanbul but I enjoyed the visit. The old castle area is worth a look and some of the museums. Ataturk's mausoleum was very interesting giving an insight into this fascinating man who Turks remember with such affection. On the way to or from Ankara stop off at Beypazari, a quaint little town.

Besides the Hisar (fortress) and Anıt Kabir (Atatürk's mausoleum), Ankara has several excellent museums, chief of which is the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations near the Hisar. Here's all the info:
