Feedback from travelers recently returned from Turkey: what's good, what's bad, what they found

On the southwestern portion of our trip to Turkey next fall we plan to visit Göbekli Tepe. We'll be driving and Tom's map is going to work to get us there. My question is, has there been much work done at the site in the last few years? Are there better opportunities for viewing Göbekli as a tourist? How much time should we allow for our visit? Thanks!!

From what I could find, excavation work at Göbekli Tepe is ongoing but for the last couple years has been mainly limited to cutting shafts down to bedrock to receive posts to support a shelter that will cover the site. While I missed (pity) Göbekli Tepe while in the region I've talked with a number of people who have gone as well as tour guides. All suggest an hour or hour-and-a-half are sufficient. Presuming you are coming from and returning to Urfa, a morning or afternoon will be enough to include transport time.
