Carnet de Passages en Douane

Post by lsmart » Tue Feb 09, 2016 6:38 pm

We are planning to go to Turkey this year in our camping-car. We live in France and the French Federation for Camping-carists advise us to get a Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD) although looking at the AA website (probably mainly for cars) it says not required for Turkey.
I believe this is just a bond to make sure you don't sell the vehicle there and is reinbursable. Can anyone advise?

The experts on this are the folks at the Turkish Touring and Automobile Association:

http://www.turing.org.tr/

Look in the upper right-hand corner of the homepage and click on "EN" for the English-language version of the website.

They should be able to give you accurate answers.

This covers the CPD but appears to be for Turkish people leaving Turkey for another country.

Hmmm...., yes, so it is. Still, the TTOK is the best source of information on your question. I would suggest that you contact them directly and ask about it:

I'm pretty sure you don't need a carnet for Turkey, just the vehicle registration document and insurance (green card).

Here's a blog from someone who went there - http://papillontravels.net/turkeyindex.htm - no mention of a carnet.

Thank you for the advice, Turing.org have replied saying we don't need a CPD.
