How to get from Kayseri to Goreme (Local Cave Hotel)

Post by rbrando » Sat Mar 24, 2007 10:25 pm

Advice? The hotel said they would charge 45E for an airport transfer. Can I get a better deal? I am arriving at 9:30PM at night if that makes a difference. Thanks, Rob

Thanks, that is helpful. However, I notice the Turk Air rates are far cheaper than the Onur Air one. I am flying Onur Air and getting in at 2100. It doesn't look like the Turk Air shuttles will help me out. If that is the case, the other private transfers are more expensive than what the hotel is offering. :( Anyone else have any advice? I would hate to think the private car is the only way to go. Did I miss something??? Thanks,

Rob

Hi,
We will be travelling from Goreme to Kayseri in June to catch a 7am flight to Istanbul and have been quoted 50E by Kelebek so you got a better deal than us. Turkish Air shuttles were no good to us as well. Happy travels. Mary

Onur Air has also shuttle for the night plane you suppose to come with.It costs around 10 E per person.Better to contact Onur Air sales office in Nevsehir or Urgup.

Thanks for that. Just called them and the fare for a regular transfer is $10 USD per person. Not bad. (compared to $70 USD for a private transfer) Now I'll just have to wait and see what a "regular" transfer entails... ;)

New info: Nevshir is SOOOO much closer to Goreme. (Like 10 minutes compared to over an hour.) Just saying, if the times work out, fly to Nevshir instead. The times looked better to Kayseri when I went, but given the distance to the airport, I'm not sure it was justified.

There's no official shuttle though, so unless your hotel have arranged a transfer or unless you're picking up a hire car, a taxi can be expensive (when compared to Kayseri shuttle).

The 'official' shuttle I took arrived 15 minutes early (in the early morning) drove around the country side for an hour picking people up, stopped for 10 minutes on the side of the road, at which time we all had to switch to another shuttle to go to the airport. I'm not complaining, I understand how the cost-model would work, I'm just saying if I had it to do all over again, I would definitely investigate other options. Taxis are expensive though, as you point out, so that may not be the best option. As well, I don't know what the other options are (since my trip is done now!) :)
