Gamirasu Cave Hotel near Urgup

Gamirasu Cave Hotel is a WONDERFUL place in a tiny village about 10 miles from Urgup. Only 33 guest rooms and a reasonably priced botique hotel with fine food and the best staff and management I've encountered in Turkey. The dinner menu is fixed each night as a seven-course feast, but special food accommodation can be made if necessary. While rather isolated, the location itself is beautiful with a mix of cut cave and tufa block rooms, all of which seem to be nicely sized and comfortable. Free, on-demand transport to/from Urgup and even two horses for those who would enjoy a ride through the beautiful valley and hills surrounding the hotel. An amazing mix of nationalities among the guests all of whom seemed pleasant, friendly and a joy for good conversation. The hotel staff can arrange car rentals, area tours, balloon rides, guides, etc. at very reasonable rates likely better than you will get on your own. A natural thermal spa and/or swimming pool are planned improvements for next year. One of the partners/owners is a German man who is an EXCELLENT therapeutic masseur. Somewhat painful if you request deep massage but the pain is worth the gain! Not cheap, but not expensive--a fine value that enjoys our best recommendation. Book early as the hotel has an increasingly fine reputation with both locals and travel agents and tends to be constantly full. Lots of steps, but the need to use them can be minimized for those with difficulties.
