Sofa Restaurant in Sultanahmet

Post by Much2CnDeu » Mon Oct 09, 2006 6:58 pm

I ate twice at Sofa Restaurant, down the hill from the Blue Mosque, in Sultanahmet. The food was delicious and well-priced.

I loved the Ali Nazik, ordered it both times. A friend and I also had Ezme Salati (spicy) and Dolmas (good, but filling). The food was really good at Sofa.

P.S. Has anyone noticed that men while eating dinner might notice a friend across the street and start a (shouting) conversation through an open window or entrance?

This happened a couple of times, and it was only the tourists who looked up.

Sofa Restaurant, Part 2 - a month later

Post by Much2CnDeu » Thu Nov 02, 2006 12:06 am

I went back to Istanbul a month later, and was told that the cook(s) had changed at Sofa and the food wasn't as good. In a month's time, the restaurant went from very full throughout the day/night to nearly deserted. Certainly, the number of visitors has diminished considerably over the last month, but locals aren't going in.

I had Ali Nazik and it was still delicious!
