Recipe for Visne Suyu?

Post by Shekasteh » Sun Jul 29, 2007 6:09 pm

Hi all,

Just returned from a wonderful and eye-opening 3 weeks in Turkey. Thank you to all of you for your posts on this forum--your imput was very helpful in preparing for the trip.

Anyway, do any of you have access to a recipe (in english) for Turkish Visne Suyu (cherry juice)? While I was in Turkey, our group picked cherries and someone made fresh Visne Suyu for us--and I'd love to be able to make it for my family now that I'm home.

A Kg Vişne
750 gr sugar.
juice of a lemone
Enough water to cover vişne.
Wash the vişne. Take the stalks off. Add water in the boiling pot. boil water and sugar. Add vişne and lemon juice into boiled water. Let them boil for half an hour. take the pot from fire stell it to be cool. After the visne cools pour the juice in another pot. filter the wişne into this new pot by squeezing. pour the juice in bottles or a bowl put the juice in frigidaire.
