New Lonely Planet Tukey

Post by steve » Fri Apr 24, 2009 1:44 pm

Almost passed me by this one, didn't have a clue it was out until I saw it on the shelves!

There's a new version out so make sure you get the one with the rocks and balloons on rather than the big brown hat - many places are still selling the older edition. Haven't had a chance to check through it in detail yet, but the things I have looked for that should have been dropped (once-great hotels etc.) seem to have been although not a huge amount has been added. Too early to call though and I must admit that it seems to be pretty polished and a record update too - less than two years since the last revision, LP are certainly upping the game and the other publishers must be feeling a little pressure.

I don't understand why they've left out Bergama on their west coast "Itineraries - Classic Routes" recommendations...

I Steve,

do you mean the photo as seen here of the balloons over Cappadocia ;

11th Edition / April 2009

The new Lonely planet guide book on Turkey 2009 edition 11 is also available in a download of individual chapters early here with Pick & Mix!

This way you can mix and match or only choose the areas that are specific to your area of travel in Turkey..plus it is a nice idea that you can have your guide book in PDF form on your computor or lap-top..

I looked again yesterday here in Antalya at D&R but they only had the older version which I already have..and I will have to see if they can get the newer edition.

Thanks ever so much for the compliments :D I was informed that we were included in the new edition about March of this year and cant wait to see it in print..however for my own use I have also downloaded the Western Mediterranean chapter where I have read the inclusion..however lol..they got our website address incorrect..did send a email in regards to the miss-information at Lonly planet feedback and let hope they are able to fix it on any new printings. I was truely happy and excited to be finally added to the guide..yipeeeee

Yep, that's the one. Shame about the typo, but at least your inclusion is a step in the right direction.
