Infant Car Seats in rental cars

Post by mdonovan » Wed Apr 15, 2009 7:37 pm

Hi there,

I'll be traveling with my family to Turkey this spring, and we were wondering about the car seats for infants in Turkey. In Cappadocia and Izmir, we'll be renting cars, and while the rental sites seem quite professional, we didn't know if the infant seats would have the same standards and safety requirements we might expext to find in the States. Does anyone have any experience or advice? If we don't have to travel with the bulk and weight of our seat from home, it'd be great.

Thanks for your help,

Matt

Hi Matt,

You can request a car seat in your reservation inquiry..and yes many of the car rentals do have them..nowadays in Turkey there are many baby products available and they are imported from say the US ( Fisher price ) and Chicco..so I would not worry about the quailty of standards for baby car seats in Turkey..however you might want to specify what excatly you want and you know there are different types of car seats depending on the child's age..( ie for new borns and 8 months and up.. )

As I am Canadain and have lived here now for 13 years I have seen how Turkey has changed in the way of safety standards for babies..When I first came I brought my own car seats and portable bed..awful to have to lug around in the airports..but now I would not be concern about that any more..most hotels even have baby cots provided at no extra charge..

if your baby is small I would say bring your own car seat..this way you have something to use on the plane as well..
here are some examples;

for older babies

hope this helps and have a great trip..

When you go and look for your first car seat, there are a few elements that are essential for every modern person. Whether you're looking for the best car seats, latch car seats of cheap infant car seats there are universal elements they should contain. Stroller systems usually combine a car seat, stroller, and possibly a diaper bag. The infant car seats that come with these systems allow quick release from their bases and easy docking into the stroller that comes with the setup.

Hello friends.Once I been to Turkey with my baby.We didn't had a problem of infant car seat as we took Disney Pushchair with us.It had a convertible car seat.For people who hire the infant car seat along with rental cars there are some rental outlets.I find these outlets provide some best car seats which are very comfortable and safe.

AS OF June 2010, using child seats for children will be obligatory in vehicles. In accordance with the EU adjustment laws, the new Traffic Regulation will be in force as of 1 June.

The vehicles will have to have seat belts and children of less that 1.35 metres and 36 kilograms will have to be seated in special safety seats appropriate for their weight.

i'm looking into car seats for my family trip to Greece in a week. did you find it was ok to use the seats from the rental company, or should we take seats from home?
קייטרינג in the past, we always took our seats with, but carrying 4 seats this time is a bit much, no?
