Hotel recommendations for Family - Istanbul, Canakkale etc

Post by greenfields » Sat Feb 20, 2010 7:27 am

We are travelling to Turkey at the end of March with our family (2 children - 13 and 10). I am looking for recommendations for hotels or pensions to stay in Istanbul (near the tourist sites as we don't have too much time), Canakkale, Bodrum, Kusadasi. Is it normal that we will have to get two rooms or is there such a thing as family rooms?

I can recommend the Hotel Erboy in Istanbul and the Kervansery in Canakkale, we stayed at these two hotels in 2008 on our trip in the reverse direction ( posted under Istanbul to Fethiye in 8 days, if you're interested) .

The trend these days is for small hotels to add or convert some rooms to suites or mini-apartments for families. The price is higher than for a regular room, but perhaps not as much as two rooms. Usually you get two bedrooms, perhaps a sitting room and a kitchenette, and one or two bathrooms.

Usually all hotel services, including buffet breakfast, are open to you.

Not all hotels have these suites, but more and more do.
