where to stay in Turkey near Aleppo

Post by tammytravels » Wed Aug 29, 2007 10:52 pm

Getting close!! Definitely nervous.
I´m going to try the border crossing at Aleppo to see if I can a Syrian Visa. I´ve read some info that people have on occassion been able to get one, but the wait is ALL day (like 9 hrs) They say they have to get permission from Damascus. I´m hoping someone here can tell me if there is anything to do or someplace to stay close by while I wait. Probably will have to spend the nite since it´s quite a bus ride and will not be able to arrive first thing in the AM. Probably coming from Goreme.
Thanks if anyone knows.

hi there..i live in antakya....buses go from the otogar to Haleb/Aleppo and Damascus /Şam
i wouldn't advise you to just turn up at the kapa/gate..there is always a huge queue of busus/lorries and cars waiting to go through.
there are a few entrance points of course..you can get a bus from Gaziantep also direct to Haleb.
why not apply on line to the Syrian embassy..and pick your visa up at the consulate in Gaziantep..just a thought.
