IZair (Izmir Airlines), Turkey

Last Updated on March 29, 2022

IZair or Izmir Airlines is Now Pegasus Airlines

IZair or Izmir Airlines is one of the most well-known Turkey airlines. With IZair offering both local and international destinations, especially around Europe, it was not long before it became famous for being a low-cost yet high-quality airline. Established in 2005, IZair had been serving its passengers for 17 years. When it comes to the specifics, it commenced its very first flight on June 14, 2006. While it has a long history of flights, here is a short trip down memory lane and a quick update on how Izmir Airlines is doing at the present.

One of the most notable events in the timeline of IZair was in 2012 when all their flights were endorsed and marketed under the brand Air Berlin Turkey which aimed to target the charter market between Turkey and Germany. This was a collaboration between two airlines, Pegasus Airlines and Berline Airlines. Unfortunately, this collaboration was discontinued the following year (2013) and the brad Air Berlin Turkey was canceled. After this setback, IZair continued to serve its passengers and provide them with quality service.

Pegasus Airlines

In November 2018, IZair made a big move by dissolving the airline and merging it with their past collaborator, Pegasus Airlines. As a quick introduction, Pegasus is headquartered in the Kurtköy area of Pendik, Istanbul At present, IZair is now the property of Pegasus Airlines which is now the leading low-cost airline in Turkey. As mentioned earlier, the first collaboration they made was Air Berlin Turkey. During that time, Pegasus Airlines hasn’t ascended as the top airline yet, which became a pushing factor to expand their company. With a fleet size of 94, it offers over 120 destinations locally and across Europe. Because Pegasus Airlines is a fast-paced airline, its goal is to acquire additional hubs as they grow.

When it comes to safety, Pegasus Airlines takes pride in its 6/7 up to 7/7 rating. While there are a few mishaps, the service that they bring outweighs them. Despite being dissolved and sold to another airline, rest assured that IZair is still the same in service and in quality despite being under a different name. To sum it all up, that was IZair in the past, and this is IZAir today.
