bout 156 km (97 miles) south of Ürgüp, a 3-hour drive in the Aladağ mountains (a continuation of Turkey’s Bolkar range) southeast of Niğde is Aladağlar National Park (Aladağlar Milli Parkı; map), which contains the impressive Kapuzbaşı Waterfalls and possibilities for hiking and river rafting on the lively Zamanti Nehri.
The Kapuzbaşı Şelalesi(waterfalls) is the main attraction, but the mountain scenery—especially in spring, with all the wildflowers, and in autumn, with the foliage colors—is beautiful all along the way.
Overnight accommodationsin the park are limited and very basic (spartan village guesthouses), so many people go to Aladağlar (AH-lah-dah-lahr) on a day-trip from Cappadocia.
Rock Valley Tourism & Travel of Ürgüp operates day trips to the park and the waterfalls. More…
