Turkish State Railways offers discounts for children, students, soldiers, seniors (60 and up), and for passengers on round-trips (return trips) on its main lines:
Children
Children from infants through 6 years old ride free. Kids 7 to 12 pay 50% of the adult fare.
Students & Teachers
20% discount for students and teachers, but you may need a Turkish student or teacher ID card to be eligible.
Seniors
20% discount for travelers 60 to 64, 50% discount for travelers 65 and older.
Round-trip (Return trip)
20% discount off full fare if you buy a gidiş-dönüş (gee-DEESH duhr-NEWSH, round-trip/return) ticket.
For Turkish Citizens
Turkish soldiers, teachers, members of the press, veterans and their families, etc. are entitled to a wider range of discounts. You need the proper Turkish ID card to obtain these discounts.
Monthly Rail Passes
If you plan to travel a lot by train, consider the 30-day Train Tour Cards (Tren Tur Kartı) which grant substantial discounts on trains, including sleeper trains.
