Many visitors to Turkey do not need a visa, and many who do need one may buy an e-visa online from a user-friendly official Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
Holders of some passports must apply in advance to a Turkish consulate in their home countries to obtain their visa. It depends on which passport you have. Here are the countries/passports that can obtain a visa easily online, in advance.
If your passport is from one of the countries listed below, you should apply for a visa in advance of your trip at a Turkish consulate, preferably in your own country. You probably cannot obtain a visa online.
Allow a minimum of one month for your visa application to be processed by the Turkish consulate. See these visa tips for more.
