The White Shore
It doesn’t look all that white from this vantage point high in the mountains that frame this inlet from the Gulf of Gökova (Gökova Körfezi) and its alluvial plain.
But the broad beach is one of the attractions of Gökova (officially named Akyaka, the White Shore), 35 km/22 miles south of Mugla, 20 km/12.5 miles north of Marmaris.
Gökova/Akyaka is where Turkey’s Aegean and Mediterranean coasts meet, which makes it convenient to reach from Köyceğiz, Marmaris, Muğla, and not all that far from Bodrum.
