Terbıyık Sokak is hardly the most grippingly beautiful street inIstanbul‘s Sultanahmet district, but it’s not bad.
Because it’s pretty much a dead-end, there’s very little traffic. The bread truck backs up to the bakery on its western end several times a day, but it’s not noisy and any inconvenience is more than compensated by the scent of fresh-baked bread.
Terbıyık (TEHR-buh-yuhk, “Street of the Youth Whose Moustache Has Just Started”) adds its obsession with facial hair to that of the other hair-oriented streets in the district, Akbıyık Caddesi and Kabasakal Sokak (see map below).
