Sıraselviler Hotels, Istanbul

Sıraselviler Caddesi, the "Avenue of the Row of Cypress Trees" near Istanbul's Taksim Square (map), no longer has many cypresses, but it does have a number of hotels.

In any of the hotels right on the busy street itself, you must be sensitive to noise, as Sıraselviler Caddesi is busy with vehicular and pedestrian traffic day and deep into the night.

Some nightclubs, bars and two major hospitals nearby add to the problem.

But here's the secret: several Sıraselviler hotels offer Bosphorus-view rooms. These are on the quiet side of the hotel, away from the street.

One small hotel in this area offers not only Bosphorus-view rooms, but quiet and even moderate prices! It's the 3-star, 51-room Cihangir Hotel, off a tiny back street (map) named Arslan Yatağı Sokak ("Street of the Lion's Bed") that can be a bit difficult to find, but once you find it, the place becomes your refuge. More...
