June (Haziran) is the first month of summer in Turkey. The weather is perfect throughout the country, with long days. As June progresses, the weather keeps getting hotter, averaging 25°C (77°F) in coastline cities.

With the weather getting hotter, the cities of Istanbul, Ephesus, and Cappadocia remain busy as it is peak season. However, both tourists and locals flock to seaside resorts on the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts.

The most popular destinations in June are Antalya, Bodrum, Kaş, Kemer, and Izmir. These cities are popular for their pristine blue flag beaches, lively nightlife, historical sites, and internationally recognized hotels, and restaurants.

There is a lot to do in Turkey in summer, with the tourism period officially reaching peak point. The weather is perfect for outdoor activities, and Turkey has lots to offer. The most popular activities in June include:

  • Relaxing on the blue flag beaches of Antalya, Izmir, Çeşme and Bodrum. 
  • Adventuring with water sports such as surfing and rafting, famous in Manavgat, Antalya, and Bodrum, and windsurfing in Çeşme.
  • Taking walks in one of the many beautiful Aegean and Mediterranean cities.
  • Going on tours of historical sites such as Ephesus, the ruins of Side, the ancient city of Aspendos, Olimpos, and more. 
  • Enjoying festivals and local events.

During the summer, each city will have local festivals, typically involving outdoor activities. While these local festival dates and types can depend on the region. The Istanbul Music/Jazz Festival is a well-known festival regularly held throughout June.

Also, remember that Kurban Bayramı (Feast of Sacrifice) is in June. This nationwide holiday will affect your plans if it overlaps with your visit.

With summer beginning and many festivals being held, the number of tourists reaches its highest point in June, reducing throughout the following months. So, the country will be the most vibrant during this month.

What Do You Need to Know Before Traveling to Turkey in June

As Turkey progressively gets hotter with June, carrying water, using an SPF 30+ sunscreen, and avoiding the sun during high noon is always recommended. And since June will have the most visitors, we recommend planning well and booking your hotel, transportation, and activities beforehand. 

Another important point is to plan around the official Feast of Sacrifice (Eid al-Adha) holiday in Turkey.
