Bird’s Eye View
The Great Theater of Ephesus, looking toward the source of the city’s wealth: its harbor (long since filled with silt). The avenue toward the sea is the Arcadian Way, once the richest street in the city.
Imagine watching ominous dark rainclouds sweep in from the distant Aegean, sprinkling bright rain on the marble streets and turning them to silver….
I saw it, once, right from this seat in the theater.
