Güllü Konaklar Hotel, Şirince

Panoramic view from Güllü Konak Hotel in Şirince, near Ephesus, Turkey

Panoramic view from the terrace at Güllü Konak.

Güllü Konaklar is a beautiful, restful inn in the hill village of Şirince, 8 km (5 miles) east of Selçuk and Ephesus near Turkey’s Aegean coast.

The name means “Rose Mansion,” and the guest rooms are named for varieties of roses, but I also enjoyed pansies, geraniums, jasmine and olive trees, which are here in abundance.

But guests come not for the flowers, but for the tranquillity, the spectacular panoramic views, and the supremely convenient locationright next to the main square and yet not bothered by its bustle.

The comfortable guest rooms have private baths, some with tub and separate rainfall shower; locally-made towels and soaps; individually-controlled air-conditioning and heating units, free Wifi, coffee and tea-making supplies. Some enjoy the spectacular view, others look to the village.

You won’t spend much time in your room, though, as the numerous lounge areas provide far better comfort for sitting, sipping, talking, gazing and just relaxing. Four lounges are outdoors, two are indoors, with one being the Güllü Konak’s cozy restaurant-bar.

Breakfast, included in the room rate, includes several varieties of olives and fruit preserves, all made on the premises from produce grown here.

Service at the Güllü Konaklar is superb. Ms Zeynep Erdilek and Mr Kerim Altan and other members of the staff will do all they can to make your stay pleasant.

Other fine inns in Şirince provide excellent experiences, but the Güllü Konaklar easily has the most convenient location, right in the center, yet quietly apart from it.

When you contact Güllü Konaklar, please mention TTP. Here’s why.
