Several car rental companies have offices in Adnan Menderes Airport, 18 km (11 miles) south of Izmir on the way to Selçuk, Ephesus and Pamukkale.
In principle, you could just fly into the airport, go to a rental desk, hire a car and go. But to be sure you'll get the car you want at the price you want, you should reserve your car in advance. A good way to do this is through one of the world leading companies below or a TTP recommended travel agencies.

Selçuk and Ephesus are 60 km (37 miles) south of the airport (less than an hour's drive). Here's a description of the drive.
Pamukkale is 252 km (157 miles) from ADB, a drive of about 4 hours. (Follow the Airport-to-Selçuk description, but stay on the Otoyol toward Aydin. Do not exit for Selçuk/Kusadasi.)
Another way to go to or from the airport is to have Anker Travel in Kuşadası arrange a private transfer from Adnan Menderes Airport, or indeed from any airport in Turkey, to any city, town or port.
Your hotel in Selçuk, Şirince or Kuşadası may also be able to arrange a private transfer. The Kalehan Hotel in Selçuk, for example, will arrange one for the same or less than the normal taxi fare.
