The village of Orhaniye, at the head of Hisarönü bay 26 km (16 miles) southwest of Marmaris on the Bozburun Peninsula (map), is a farming and vacation destination. Along with the villager’s houses, there are city folks’ villas springing up in the fertile valley at the foot of the mountains just inland from Kız Kumu Beach.
Locals in Orhaniye set out beehives to collect the famous Marmaris honey, they work in marble workshops, cutting and milling the valuable building stone, and they care for visitors coming on yachts, day-cruises, cars, jeep safaris, and the regular minibuses from the Marmaris Otogar.
Just out of the village center to the north is the Martı Marina and Hemithea Hotel, a romantic refuge of luxury in this spectacular setting. More…
